Yes, you! That is, if you're interested in film preservation, archival collections, library history, or the role of libraries in the community. Join us for a short film made in 1948 meant to encourage small communities to start film councils, share film collections and equipment, and host discussion panels. The public library is enlisted to help store and preserve the film collection, and nervous librarians get lessons in using a projector and mending film. With its scenes of old-time rural life, this film has it all: burlesque, rats, square dancing, and weeds. Before the 22-minute film, there will be a short presentation on film preservation, film-related activities in Special Collections, and an introduction to the Archives and Preservation Club. - iCareer Week Panel
